With Guardian Term Life Insurance, we offer fixed term cover for 10, 15, 20 and 25 years, or until you turn 80 years old (whichever comes first) depending on your application outcome.

Yes, a 12 or 24-month Accidental Death Only Period may apply, depending on your personal circumstances and the application outcome. During this time, you will only be covered for accidental death.

If you purchase Guardian Term Life Insurance, your policy will start immediately after you take out cover. However, some waiting periods may apply before you can make a claim for certain events.

If you’ve been diagnosed with a terminal illness (with 12 months or less to live) and your waiting period (if applicable) has ended, you can make a claim by emailing claims@guardianinsurance.com.au with your full name and your policy number, or by calling us on 1300 308 578 Monday to Friday 8am – 8pm AEST (excluding public holidays). If approved, we will pay your cover amount in full.

Both Guardian life insurance products provide financial protection if you are to pass away or become terminally ill, however under different policy terms.

With Guardian Term Life Insurance, if you’re an Australian resident aged 18-70, you’re guaranteed acceptance for at least $50,000 in cover. Guardian Life Insurance offers cover for Australians aged 18-64, with cover available from $100,000 up to $1.5 million, depending on your age. There is no age expiry, provided you pay your premiums on time, with both single and joint cover options available. Guardian Life Insurance also offers Serious Illness, Total & Permanent Disability and Children’s Insurance optional benefits for added protection in case your circumstances change. Yes, Guardian Term Life Insurance can be purchased directly online, with no medicals or blood tests required to apply. All you need to do is answer a range of health and lifestyle questions to determine the cover you're eligible for.

You can access the PDS for Guardian Term Life Insurance at any time from the Policy Documents section on our website.

Once you purchase Guardian Term Life Insurance, your important policy details will be emailed to you. You will also receive a physical welcome pack containing your policy documents (including PDS) in the mail.

When you apply for Guardian Term Life Insurance, the cover you are offered is based on your age, income, and the health and lifestyle answers you provide in your application.

Unfortunately we’re unable to offer you more cover than the maximum amount shown in your Guardian Term Life Insurance application. However, we do have another life insurance product called Guardian Life Insurance, that you may wish to consider to see if this product is right for you.

The minimum amount of cover you can take out with Guardian Term Life Insurance is $10,000. If you’ve been offered a higher maximum cover, you can choose any amount within that range.

Guardian Term Life Insurance premiums are based on the health and lifestyle questions you answer during your application, and your cover amount.

Guardian Term Life Insurance is a stepped premium policy which means that it will generally increase each year. To learn more about how premiums are structured, read the Key Fact Sheet.

This will depend on what you’re hoping to achieve through your financial planning. Some factors to consider include the size of your family, their quality of life, your income and living situation.

No, your cover amount will stay the same for the term of your policy. You may wish to factor this into the amount you apply for to ensure your level of cover will be enough to meet your needs.

You can reduce your cover amount by emailing enquiries@guardianinsurance.com.au or calling us on 1300 709 560 Monday to Friday 8am – 8pm AEST (excluding public holidays). Please provide us with your full name, policy number and the amount of cover you would like to reduce to. We will confirm when we process your request and what your revised premium will be. Please note the minimum amount of cover is $10,000.

Guardian Term Life Insurance cannot be paid directly via your super fund. For queries regarding life insurance through your superannuation, it’s best to talk to your superannuation provider.

With Guardian Term Life Insurance, you can nominate up to five different beneficiaries to receive the benefit amount after you pass away.

We recommend you give your loved ones a copy of your Guardian Term Life Insurance policy documents. If they need to make a claim, they can do so by emailing claims@guardianinsurance.com.au with your policy number or calling us on 1300 308 578 Monday to Friday 8am – 8pm AEST (excluding public holidays). When you purchase Guardian Term Life Insurance there is a 30-day cooling off period from the start date of your cover, during which time you can cancel your cover and receive a full refund provided no claim has been made. After that you can request for your policy to be cancelled at any time by emailing enquiries@guardianinsurance.com.au. You may be entitled to a partial pro rata refund of your premium.

Guardian Insurance will issue you with a policy schedule and PDS when you sign up. This will contain everything you need to know about your policy terms.

There is no limit on the number of life insurance policies you can take out, however your total sum insured can impact your eligibility for additional policies depending on the provider. Taking out multiple policies means you’ll need to pay premiums for each one, so it’s important to consider your long-term financial goals.

No, you are not able to take out a policy for someone else under Guardian Term Life Insurance. All applications for this insurance and underwriting questions must be answered by the individual taking out the policy to cover themselves (the Insured). A policy cannot be taken out for or on behalf of someone else.

You will be notified of any fields with an incorrect or invalid response. Please check that you’ve answered all questions correctly using the required format and avoiding any unnecessary spaces, punctuation marks, or other special characters.

If you would like to lower your policy’s cover amount, please call us on 1300 709 560 Monday to Friday 8am – 8pm AEST (excluding public holidays).

Unfortunately you cannot increase your Guardian Term Life Insurance cover amount once you have purchased a policy, however you can either purchase an additional policy up to the maximum you are eligible for (both policies combined) or you can cancel and replace your policy with a new one.
